The Holidays can be a stressful time for all of us.  Here are a few things you can do and and a few things to avoid:

Do

  • Make your wellbeing your first priority

    • Let shopping, decorating, hosting/attending functions take a back seat to your emotional wellbeing

  • Try to stick to a normal sleep schedule

  • Keep your regular exercise routine to relieve stress

  • Be realistic about expectations;

    • Reduce your Christmas card/ gift list

    • Make a budget and stick to it; don’t overspend

  • Keep connected with friends and family

  • Moderation is the best policy

  • Organize your time

 

Things to avoid

  • Make big changes in your life:

    • Don’t start a new diet; just be disciplined in your holiday eating

    • Don’t start a new exercise routine; carry on with your normal routine or take short walks

  • Don’t feel guilty if things don’t go perfectly

  • Don’t overspend; some financial responsibility when shopping will prevent economic hardship
